2015 SEASON MATCHES AND TRAINING

Hi everyone. Please see the following information from Battle CC:

We have now entered sides at U11 (softball) and U13 (hardball) in the local leagues.

Pre-season coaching/training sessions will start on Sunday 8th March, 3-4pm, at Battle Sports Centre. This first session will be a 'welcome' session, particularly welcoming Catsfield players and parents to the start of pre-season. These sessions will then continue to run on consecutive Sundays until we get outdoors towards the end of April, depending on weather and ground conditions.

There will be no session on 5th April (Easter Sunday), and our coaches may not be available on 22nd March (coach training course). Cost is likely to be £3 per head per session (to be confirmed).

Outside sessions will commence at George Meadow once the weather is decent, and will be from 10am-12 noon on Sunday mornings. We understand that some juniors may still be involved in the end of the football and rugby seasons then - they will be very welcome to join us once these seasons are over.

As always, please contact me if you have any queries and feel free to pass this information onto anyone that may have not seen it.

NEWS UPDATE JAN '15

After carefully considering the position of the club at the end of last season, it has been decided that Catsfield CC Colts section will join with the Battle CC junior section next season. This will offer our players greater opportunities in terms of coaching, match opportunities and ultimately to develop their cricketing ability.

Although details are still being finalised, it is presumed that the majority of future training will take place at Battle Cricket Club (George Meadow). Battle CC is adamant however that the players making the transition to their club will maintain their connection with Catsfield. To assist with this, I hopefully shall be continuing to be involved in a coach capacity and it is also hoped that the facilities at Catsfield’s playing fields will continue to be utilised from time to time.

Having spoken to the Sussex Cricket Board, I am also aware that this will not have any effect on the coaching offered to Catsfield primary school through the Chance to Shine programme.

I hope you agree with me that this is the best move for the club in order to progress. It will allow a connection to be maintained with the players that have developed with us over the last couple of seasons and, in turn, will provide them with training and match offerings that they now require and deserve.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any queries regarding this decision. It would be good to hear if you intended to make this transition or not so that the decision of what aged teams to enter in the league next year can be finalised.

Happy New Year and I look forward to hearing from you.

David.
